    About the Treatment

Breast Reduction Surgery is advised to patients with abnormally large breasts (in proportion to the patient`s body) which cause discomfort and body pains. The surgery aims at reducing the size of a woman`s breast by removing skin, fat and tissues.

  • Complete and relevant blood tests to be conducted before the surgery, as prescribed by the treating doctor.
  • Blood thinning medications should be clearly identified and stopped as per the doctor`s instructions.
  • Intake of nicotine should be completely stopped before the surgery.
  • The treating doctor will measure, photograph and study the patient`s breasts, for understanding the desired results and recording the patient`s medical history.
  • The patient may have to get a mammogram done.

  • The patient is likely to experience pain, swelling and discomfort post the surgery.
  • The patient should strictly adhere to the follow-up schedule provided by the doctor.
  • 1-2 weeks of complete rest is mandatory.
  • Strenuous exercise and lifting of heavy objects will be forbidden for 6-8 weeks.
  • The patient will need to wear surgical bras for a specified period, post the procedure.

A patient should be aware of all plausible risks and complications, before undergoing the procedure:

  • Adverse reaction to anaesthesia during the procedure.
  • Post procedure infections.
  • Distorted appearance post the surgery.
  • Continuous pain and poor healing.
  • Difficulty in breastfeeding.
  • Scars remain post-surgery.
