    About the Treatment

    The heterotopic transplant is a procedure where the organ is transplanted to a different location than its normal position. Kidney received from the donor is placed in the recipient`s abdomen at a different location.

The donor has to undergo DSA of kidneys and tests for all viral markers, HIV, TORCH, etc.

After the general anesthesia, the surgical team will give an incision on the lower side of the abdomen. The donor`s kidney will be placed in the recipients` abdomen at a new location. Kidney`s blood vessels and ureter will be attached to the kidney. A drain line will be put in the abdomen to remove the excess fluid.
